The need
5 billion people worldwide lack timely and affordable access to surgical care resulting in high rates of avoidable disabilities and mortality. At current, 6.5% of all deaths in Low Income Countries could be adverted if access to essential surgery was available, and we need your help to reduce this!
We define a good health service as one that delivers effective, safe, timely and quality personal and non-personal health interventions, that minimises the waste of vital resources. By having a well-functioning health system, this ensures there is equitable access to essential medial products, vaccines and technologies of assured quality, safety, efficacy and cost-effectiveness. With only 3.5% of all surgeries taking place in low and lower-middle income countries (which are home of 35% of the world’s population) currently, at ANDO we aim to ensure the population of Sub Sahara Africa to access to safe, timely and affordable surgical care when they need it.
What are the challenges patients face in Uganda related to surgical care?
Greater than 95% of the population in South Asia, central, eastern, and western sub-Saharan Africa do not have access to care. At ANDO, we provide treatments to improve our patients quality of life and conditions.
